I'm new here but have read alot of the previous threads. The viro roof is in the up posion but the boot is not fully closing. The light on the swich is blinking when engaged. The instrament cluster display shows one malfunction. I see from previous threads that this is a common problem. I was hoping one of you knowledgable souls could help me sort this out as the MB dealer in my area cannot see me for two weeks and it is out of warrenty. Battery voltage? Window resets? Fuse? Where do I look to first?
Thank You
Shane

I know very little about the R230 roof system - but even if I did my suggestion would be to get a fault code read out from any independent with diagnostic equipment. Are you sure the retractable boot cover is located correctly?

Non to easy, when this happens the dealers have a valve block that they insert in between the pump and roof, so that all parts can be individually checked

All I can think of is to disconnect the boot battery, leave 10 mins and try again

Almost but not quite

Trying a combination of things in desparation, I (following good advice) got some movement out of the deck lid. It is still not closing but its a start. Also manually locking the roof has stopped the error message on the cluster. The cylinder on the right side of boot seems stiffer moving than the rest (also I think it was making a clicking noise when battery was restored). Do these often go bad? It's not leaking and the tank attached to the pump is full. Has anyone else had this situation with this generation SL?

This is the first one that has come on to any forum to my knowledge.

Are you saying that the boot will not open, does it release the two front catches

Yes

Yes the front two latches won't close. the rest of the roof is up and in place. I don't even need the top to opperate but I need the boot to close so I can drive it. Thanks again for your help.

This may sound silly but mine will only close and lock when standing on level ground.

I will read it all up again later in the day
