Hi folks, just registered on here, it seems like a good place ask about problems

My wife runs a 2004 SLK 350 with full AMG kit, its a lovely motor and hasn''t caused us any problems since owning it for the last two years however for the first time I have taken it off the road for the winter, I have it on an accuguard trickle charger to keep the battery fully charged and I''ve started it today and drove it a little to make sure everything is ok but the heater is not responding! The leds are lighting on the controls but theres no air being blown through, even with the dial turned right up theres no blower at all, I''ve checked fuses which seem ok so I wondered if anyone else had this problem and solved it!

Thanks

Nick

Yeah I checked all the related fuses for the blower/ac and they are all fine. When you switch the ac on/off you can here things happening (relays etc) but no airflow. I've turned up the fan speed and everything else resulting in nothing! The week I took it off the road I know it was working as the fan had developed a bit of a squeak which went on and off depending on the speed setting, its not been on ever since the battery went flat when it was sat for a fortnight which is why I fitted the trickle charger, everything else works but the fan/blower!!

It looks as though a new fan motor is required

Would it go just like that? The cars only got 10,000mls on it!

Sadly one never knows,,it is possible that the air intake box got blocked with leaves etc, and water filled up the box.

I had two new struts on my SL at 15k miles, have a word with MB direct and see what they say,, things do go wrong with electrics. If it was the fan regulator the fan normally runs at a slow speed only

Is the motor easy to locate? I'm handy with a spanner as I run a couple of older Porsches myself but the SLK is a bit newer and I'm wondering where to start?

Is it possible to get something like a Haynes manual for the newer SLK's

Cheers
