Hi all, I purchased my first ever MB yesterday and had a strange problem on the test drive.
I pressed the mirror fold button, the OS folded in but the NS just jumped around and seemed to be struggling. My friend in the passenger seat assisted it in, now they won't fold back out!
The OS can be manually moved back out but whichever button you press, it just folds back in again.
The NS feels too stiff to manually fold out without it breaking, should I just try a bit harder or is there a nack to manually unfolding it?
Any help appreciated.

Purchase from dealer? take it back for them to fix..
Also try some spray grease, aerosol, With straw insert above glass towards the pivot
and on out side with mirror folded.
Do not use WD40, it is not a lubricant.

Thanks for your reply, I had a discount because of the mirrors, it was a cheap car. I'll give the spray a try now.

So, the mirrors are now out, thank you! But I need to fix the problem with them not able to fold out.
Googling reveals a reset procedure but only for newer cars. Is it likely to be a faulty switch?

It will be the motors not being able to see stop or the gears are dead, I doubt servicable, bet bet get a replacement of a car being broken and use your existing colour coded cover.

Make sure its the right pn for the wiring loom

I've not dealt with a 2007 model (is it a W215 or 216?) but it's possible that at some stage the mirror has received a clout and forced it closed.
On a 215 this can crack the plastic motor housing - I had to repair both on my 215 over the years.
It is fixable, without needing to replace the entire mirror, by use of two-part resin putty to strengthen the area around the motor once you've glued the housing.
Although the housing is removable (there's a retaining clip internally behind the glass top edge), you'll need to remove the mirror assembly from the door in order to repair the motor housing.
From what I recall you have to remove the "air" vent on the A pillar in (phillips ,screw, accessible through the vent itself, a torch may be needed to see it).
The mirror assembly for the 216 differs from the 215 but hopefully the above is helpful.

Very helpful, thank you. I thought it was a W203 but I'm probably wrong!
When I have a bit of time, I'll strip the mirrors down and try to work out what's going on. Both mirrors rattle slightly too as if, even though I've manually extended them, they're not "locked" in position so I'm guessing that's symptomatic of something.
