Hi guys recently purchased the above car,
Looking at lowering options… anyone lowered theirs on springs/coil overs? Looking to go only around 25mm, and if I go springs, will be fitting with new shocks all round, any one done this and any recommendations/pictures?
Thanks all! Oh and one more thing… got a slight creak from front left… is this common and what is the usual culprit? Thanks guys
Dazza,
I’m based in Surrey

At 2007 the car will be well overdue some front suspension parts . A garage will probably identify the creak easily enough .
Probably front ball joints .
What mileage is the car on ?

Before you lower it I would give it a while to get used to it. The basic spring setup is pretty good and handles well for a big car, corners nice and level etc. I would have changed my suspension if I did not think it was good enough but didn't think it would have improved that much versus the cost because at the end of the day it is still a diesel and not a high performance petrol engine. The biggest issue it has is its weight and it does wear out front suspension components quicker than other cars. Oh and because of our roads it has a very healthy appetite for springs - another budget consideration if you go aftermarket

hi wighty,
Thanks for your reply, I actually had a result with this one… 60k miles only with full merc history… and yes I’m going to get it looked at for the creaking, I’m going to get some new front and rear shocks fitted regardless of lowering, was looking at bilsteins,

Bilstein, Sachs or Eibach I think most people would agree with .
Have a look at AUTODOC on their app (it’s cheaper) , wait with the parts in the basket for a 41% off deal
