2007 SL350 R230 Thermostat

Now the colder weather is here, I started to notice that the SL's engine temperature has been quite erratic in the warm up stage. On Saturday it came up with an EML light which relates to the three disc thermostat stuck open, coolant taking too long to heat up.

There are so many brands of Thermostat available at varying different prices, what would you recommend?

As above , but when I changed mine i got the same make thermostat (whaler I think ? ) as the one on the car a lot cheaper but not via MB

As above, the MB one is made by Wahl.
Got mine really cheaply off eBay for a genuine Wahl thermostat.

I think you mean Wahler, Wahl make hair clippers and trimmers!

Thank you all, Ive gone ahead an ordered a whole new Wahler assembly from Autodoc. Going to tackle it myself as my Specialist quoted £320 to replace it.
