- 2007 SLK350
I recently had fairly extensive body work on 2007 slk 350. key fobs were fine even after car was hit in the left rear as it was driveable and did so a week because auto body wasn't available. 2 months later car is put back together however initially I didn't think the key fobs worked at all. After some digging and auto body telling me it had to be just a battery, which I replaced and my spare fob was also not working. I discovered thru YT video that the fob is working but now it has to be held right on the door lock. but if I step back, it no longer works. My question is, the extensive damage was the back driver quarter panel where the antenna is located. Could I have an issue with amplification and how do I check that? Or is there another troubleshoot I can try to see if it's something else? Infrared definitely transmitting because it shows up on my phone camera. Be patient I'm a girl and no next to nothing about cars. this is my 3rd slk older one now because a brand new 2016 I totaled at 8000 mi with a seizure and ins on a new one again was crazy. Sorry if this is a dumb post i'm just trying to see if this is something I can check myself. Everyone around here is short on staff, parts are held up and taking it back in is my only recourse. they had no trouble finding parts for the age it was getting shipping and short staffed that held me up for 2 months. thanks for any help.
