2007 W204 - can the Comand controller be used with any other head units?

Hey guys,

Just bought a 2007 c220 sport, love it!

Only issue is that I currently have the audio 20 system, and I really want yo upgrade this - but want to keep the controller/knob.

Can any other head units (pioneer, alpine etc) be used in this car, and that will also work with this controller/knob?

I am considering purchasing the full NTG4 Comand Navigation system as it looks awesome, but the price is very steep for what it does (approx £800 with fitting)
