2008 sprinter 311cdi key problem

Hi All,

hopefully someone can help me. my key will not turn in the ignition.

i had just arrived outside my house and ten minutes later tried to start with no success.
i have tried both keys and still unable.

please help!

Hi,

It will be the electronic steering lock stuck on..

You can try giving it a little tap with a big hammer while pushing the key in and out, failing that then it needs a specialists touch and could be the key!

but my money is on the ESL - It looks like a motor mounted on your steering column with a white plug with 5 wires going in.

Hi sounds like eis gone down not sending release signal to steering lock, wont be key at fault it you have tried two keys.

Mercedes Sprinter Key fault

Mercedes have a serious problem with both the ignition and the steering column lock.
I have had 2 sprinters recently and the Mercedes assist mechanic informed me and so did the recovery driver that this problem is very very common.
The key will not turn. Solution. Needs new key
The key will not turn. Solution. Needs new steering column and steering lock.
Do not park near to a kirb or half on the kirb. If you get this problem hit the steering lock with a large hammer. Mercedes mechanic did and it worked.
The whole system is crap and Mercedes evidently know it and I understand that it is costing them plenty of money.

Sprinter 2008 key don't turn

Hello
5 minute more and the dealer change steering
bar and key lock ...plus a new reprogramming.
A friend of mine told me to put WD40, a good
quantity... Wait 5 minutes and try to start.
1.- under the speed shift they are a round cap,
Take out and press the button to free the shift
handle. Move to neutral....back to parking.
2.- Turn the key and hold with a little presion.
3.-move your steering left right..this will free the lock.

Good LOCK
