2009 C160 Estate

Hi, i have a2009, C160 automatic which hasn't been very well recently and has had 4 visits to main dealer. I have asked them to fix red led light next to gear leaver on central console as it doesn't indicator which gear your in. after getting car back yesterday and firing off an email to garage about it not being fixed have received an email back saying it doesn't have a light here to let you know which gear your in but it is all on the instrument cluster now. could someone let me know if this is correct please? morning, i have had this vehicle since 2013 with a lot of electrical issues. about 3 months ago the passenger door open warning light came on, about the same time the red led gear indicator light on the central console next to the gear stick stopped working. the car has been back and forth to Mercedes main dealer in slough with other issues and this issue hasn't been resolved. i emailed them on Tuesday after it was returned to say it still wasn't working to be emailed back by their service manager to say there isn't a light like this on the central console. can anyone please confirm there is a gear indicator light next to the gear stick and I'm not imagining it please. thanks Dave

Welcome to the forum Dave.

I have a 2010 pre facelift S204 C180K and there is no red light near the gear shifter.
If you want to know what gear you are in, look at the cluster. If you are in Comfort or Sport mode the cluster will show D N or R
By selecting (M) manual, the cluster will show which gear you are in. 1 2 3 4 or D (5th)

BTW, you don't have a brother called Ronnie do you?
