Hi
I wanted to renew the coolant on my 200e, 16 valve. I drained the radiator and the block, but when I refilled the system, I was only able to get 5.5 litres of coolant in. My manual says the system capacity is
8.5 litres. How do I drain the whole system ? Presumably the remaining
3 litres is in the heater ??

Many thanks
John

Hi

Where did you release the coolant from. If it was from the radiator then you will still have problems. You will need to drain the coolant directly from the cylinder block. The drain plug is at the back of the block underneath the exhaust manifold.

Hope this helps

Thanks Andy, I did drain the block ( very difficult to get at the drain) and the radiator and still only managed to get 5.5 litres in on the refill.
Should I have set the heater to hot and turned the ignition on to open the heater valve ?

opening the heater valve and setting the heater to hot may have helped drain the complete system.
