I'm having problems with the running of my 200T (2 litre petrol) when it gets warm & is then left standing. If, for example, I go to the supermarket, park and get back to the car (say) 45 mins later - the engine is still warm and starts fine. But then when i put my foot on the throttle the revs dive - I have to "blip" it to get them up and then rve the tits off it whilst slipping in the clutch - not a good way to drive the car!

It's also running "lumpy" when idling warm... I'm yet to check the timing tho - i have a very old timing light (v. dim) and am awaiting being home at the right moment that is light enough to see where I'm pointing it, yet dark enough to see the markings i tipp-exed when i changed the water pump!

Any ideas anyone?

Hi there,
had a similar problem a while back, and the PCV system (engine breathers) were the cause. Its worth checking them for leaks/blockages before you start dismantling the carb!

Hope this helps,
Mark.

or rather - i would if the haynes manual were any good for this mercedes - it's the worst one of their manuals i've ever had...

I'll just remove anything that looks like a breather tube and clean it thru :)
