I'm not taking the p .. but is it n the manual?

Radios in general often have a setting where they'll come on & go off with the ignition or as yours is. It'll be something like turn the ign on, turn the radio off, press button ??? and then turn the radio on while keeping button ??? pressed.

If the radio is on when you stop the car and turn off the engine, it should shut down when you open the door and close it again.

Didn't think to look today was the first time it's done it the radio did not come on with the key as usual and stayed on after the key was removed hopefully it's a setting or a fuse and not water leaking into the electrics or some major electronic fault

This happens to my car too...occasionally. It makes you think..make sure the radio goes off...don't want a flat battery.

IIRC the radio should shut itself off after an hour anyhow (ford systems did this in the mid 90s) and depending on the car, it should also shut off the radio etc when the voltage in the battery gets to a certain voltage (then give the 'consumers offline' warning etc)

The w124 i have, is the same .And the radio works without the key being switched on .But in saying that, i do have the original radio .. But this one is not .Its the pull out type Blaupunkt radio cd you can remove and put in a secure place so you dont get it taken by low life.
