Coming from a car with LED lighting, automatic dipping and cornering, it was brilliant (pun intended). I never owned a car with more capable lights.
Now I'm in a pre facelift C class, I find the illumination from the headlights pathetic. I assume I have poverty spec halogen H7 bulbs , and not xenons as I don't have headlight washers or the dance the lights do when putting them on.

What are my options?
Better Osram or Phillips bulbs or is there anything else?

Osram Nightbreakers in the correct form factor for your existing lamps.

The ILS in your last 212 was a thing of beauty, for sure.

Pre-facelift did not do the dance, but the washers gives it away.

Good quality Osrams (nightbreakers?) will increase output, but a xenon retrofit will do a better job at much more £££

Thanks gents.
Osram Night breakers it is then.
I don't intend keeping the car that long, so a xenon upgrade isn't for me.

Don't bother trying to upgrade the side/parking lights to LED - I've tried many types, IMHO the enclosures are so small they overheat and fail very quickly, so I've reverted to the original blue incandescents which are lasting. Changing those bulbs is a major PITA, whereas the headlights are relatively easy!

Osram Cool Blue Intense we’re the ones I settled on in my 215, just about a perfect 10000K colour match to the xenon’s.

If the lights were designed and passed whatever bull crap tests by the same inbred idiots that designed the CLS with halogens then no halogen bulb upgrade will make any difference and you will need a HID kit. I tried nightbreakers and Philips xtreme in mine and they made zero difference. Even the full beam is totally useless and I’ve never driven anything so down right dangerous. I understand this isn’t the only MB model to suffer this.

That’s coming from someone who still owns and drives 20+ yr old cars with perfectly fine halogens and has no issues with them! Even the disAstra GTC on hb3 halogens was surprisingly decent for light quality.
