It would be much safer and easier to purchase a wiring kit specific to your car and then have it coded. The kit will plug directly into the rear SAM and give you most of the facility had it been installed as OE. The kits are available from any tow-bar manufacturer, eg, Witter, Tow Trust, etc. and can be coded by an MB Indy or tow-bar fitter.

Seen somewhere if you have tyre pressure warning fitted that it also detects pressure low in trailer tyres but can't see that's possible unless trailer wheels have pressure sensors as well.
