Reading my other thread you'll know I've just bought an older E350 Estate (2012) - I've bought it from the main dealer for warranty and service history etc.

They are busy changing a few parts, the air suspension compressor being one of them.

They wanted to replace all 4 tyres since the ones on the car were below 3mm. They will only replace with budget tyres, i've said no to this since there is a big difference between legal and safe.
If I pay the difference of £192.00 +VAT they will replace the tyres with - Pirelli pzero MO93yXL 245/35/R19 (fronts) --- 275/30/R19/MO96yXL
According to them, this would be what the car came with, so hoping it covers the rim well. Do you think those tyres sound OK or should I be looking for another make?

Cheers, Tom

Dunlop SportMAXX RT2

Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 5 (amazing rim protection)

Uniroyal RS5

I would steer clear of the Pirelli

Not a fan of PZeros, myself. Michelin CrossClimate+ on our estate, but we don't have the staggered wheel sizes.

I can confirm the car came with them I’m still using them (3rd set). They give good all round performance If you do choose an alternative make sure they are ‘MO‘ rated (Mercedes approved). Surprised MB want to fit budget tyres sign of the times I suppose and the car is not what they would normally have on the forecourt (low margins)

Did you ask for the air compressor to be changed or has it failed?

Hi thanks, still looking at Tyes -

They have the car in prep and are telling me the compressor needs to be replaced at no cost to myself

Low miles to be changing the compressor. Keep an eye on the rear ride height after delivery if it starts to lower overnight the rear airbags are starting to fail which in turn overwork the pump. I assume if that is the case your warranty will cover replacement of the bags - worth confirming you have the full comprehensive 1 year MB warranty with the car

They are issuing a Tier 1 warranty with the car. I will email them and ask them to check the bags, I don't want to send it back in directly after getting it.

Yes I would just to rule out cause and effect - nice to have a new pump from Mercedes they run out at £500 fitted. I bought my S212 @60k miles and fitted a new pump (someone had ordered the wrong pump from MB and seling it on EBay) still have the original which is serviceable. FYI the new pump was quite noisy from new but once run in it’s almost inaudible

I have asked them to check the struts and reassure me they won't drop pressure overnight. Let's see what they say.

Great that I chose to buy from a dealership - I'd have inherited all these issues with no warranty.

They confirmed the compressor had a slight leak, they confirm the airbags on the struts are fine.

Pzero are noisy.

put the tryre size into blackcircles and see what it says re tyre charachteristics / price and take it from there.

I loved sport maxx on my w220 but they stopped making in that size. I was gutted as they are (were) amazingly quiet.

Just put Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 5's on the rear of my taxi.
A big improvement in dry grip compared to the P-Zero's just removed.

The fact that only 56% of users would buy them again says it all for me.
I didn't like mine. Poor grip when the weather got colder and breaking traction too easily.
The Falkens I had on my E55 with a fair bit of torque handled it far better than P-Zero's on my E63

MO (Mercedes Original) is not a pre-requisite for tyres although the GY Eagle is available and it is well rated particularly for noise

My E350 has P Zero tyres, I have no problems with them in normal use, they grip really well when pushing the car in corners and wet grip seems pretty good, my one criticism is that they do aquaplane when hitting a standing wall of water.

They are standard fit on a few premium cars including the Mclaren I looked at a couple of months ago.

I had Continental tyres on my previous E class and did not like them so much.

The normal user would not be chopping and changing tyres so would not be in a position to compare tyres, AMGeed has done so his comments are worth baring in mind.

In normal use P Zeros will not disappoint in my opinion.
