2012 viano 3.0d wiring loom

Hi, my viano has 120,000mls on the clock and an independent Mercedes garage has said it needs a new engine wiring loom ( requires engine removal !). Is anyone aware if this, Is it a common fault ?. No oil contamination, Puts eng management light & limp mode. Any advise, Thanks
