Evening all,

I’m looking to buy my first Mercedes and was looking at a 2013 C180 AMG Sport Plus Estate (1.6 petrol)

Will this suffer from the notorious timing chain issues or is this a late enough model to have missed them?

The M270 engine can suffer timing chain issues same as the M271 it's a simplex chain so more likely to wear than a duplex

Hi Scott, welcome to the forum It is a 1.6 and not a 1.8 you are talking about here ? I am not aware of any problem’s personally but then I have only ever bought low mileage examples

My view is with a petrol find the best serviced lowest mileage example you can, extended service intervals kill timing chains if you can find a car that has been serviced at <10k intervals buy that
