2013 SL R231 - nearside LED parking light failed

I'm getting the above message on the dash and the "eyebrow" on the nearside light isn't working.
I've got the intelligent light system on my car and I understand it could either be the light unit itself or the control module.
Replacement cost of the complete light is eye watering so I'm hoping its just the module.
Is there any way that Xentry can identify which is the culprit or is it just a case of trying a new module and see if it fixes the problem?
If I'm unlucky and its the light unit, does anyone know of a repair service for these lights?
Any ideas would be very welcome.

Yes diagnostics will help.

Common failure is water in the module at the bottom of the light.

Can you access the module by just removing the wheel arch liner or do I have to remove the front bumper?

Normally accessible from inside the wheel arch with the liner off.

Managed to access the headlight via the wheel arch. Changed the lower module for an unbranded new one from ebay. Main beam etc work but side marker is still out. Does the module need coding or has this confirmed that the light unit itself has failed?

I'd get it on a diag machine, but probably the light itself

I have a copy of Xentry but am quickly learning that having the software is just the beginning...!
