2014 CLA AMG SPORT CDI AUTO

Lads, Anyone help me out, My Son just bought a CLA200 and I have noticed this noise when idling. sounds like a rattley exhaust type noise in around the engine(Don't think it is exhaust though) around the front end of engine. Strange noise to be honest is this normal for these cars?

Yes, it is an OM651 in the CLA diesel

Cant upload for some reason saying files to big. I think I might have narrowed it down. Might be water pump, I done the screwdriver test(3ft ft. driver and ear to it ) and the noise I am hearing seems to be coming from it. Thanks for the reply's. The more I listen to it I am almost certain. Still under warranty so fingers crossed.

Yes water pumps do go on these quite frequently.
