Hi , I’m looking at getting rid of my cls and purchasing an E63 . I’ve seen power quoted at 700-750 bhp . What would be required to achieve this and approximate costs . Any advice would be appreciated . It’s going to be a weekend car so I’m not concerned about “altering the drivability etc etc” that’s exactly what I’m hoping to achieve !

Hello and welcome

Contact MSL or Gad, both forum supporters for a remap.

Getting an M157 engine up to around 650 - 700bhp is relatively simple and can be done with just mapping via the OBD port nowadays. MSL Performance are now starting to rein in their maps a little to prolong reliability and durability. The post linked to by Malcolm above is a classic example of that.

THIS POST, in particular post #7, is an example of what can be achieved with these engines though quite a bit more was involved with this one from just mapping. Incidentally, I didn't realise just how long ago this was done. :( Tempus Fugit...

My 2014 saw 684 bhp after a stage 1 at MSL but on a stupidly hot day ( 26oC+ outside and even with fans inside was higher) , dyno’d a month later at 704.
I thought this was a sensible power increase and Acid certainly could have gotten more but as others said he dialled back to protect other components

A Stage 1 remap at MSL that will give circa 660 -700bhp is around £700 and worth every penny IMO. It's my car in the link above Post #3. As stated, MSL have turned the maps down a little to conserve engine reliability but 740 is achievable with just a map.
Unless you get the W212 E63s you will benefit greatly getting an LSD fitted to put the power down. Budget around £1350 -1500 for that fitted. Again, MSL can do this for you. I can't recommend them enough.

I would advise getting used to a stock E63 before going down the remap route. ( I waited 2 months:D) They are pretty lively out of the box!

If you are local to us (down south) we can also achieve similar figures for similar pricing on this engine. We are closed at the moment, but feel free to call me if you want to discuss (phones are open)
