2016 453 Smart Car Wipers

Just bought a Smart car and it was raining today so wipers on intermittent. On parking and removing the ignition key to get out the wipers were still going intermittently. Is this normal? Do they turn off when the car locks? I turned them off and got out of the car, but this seems a bit strange.

It says the ignition has to be on, but I have just tried it again and locked the car and the intermittent wipers still go. Haven't tried full wipers.

the wipers on my 451 only work with the ignition on, likewise the 452 (Roadster) & ML

Yes so does every car that I have had, but not this one. Strange.

there must be a fault with them .... as you've only just bought the car I'd be calling at the selling dealer.
