Apologies if this has been questioned before, haven't the time to dig through the archive

I'm needing some new rear pads on the E Class, GSF and Euro's have a pretty decent sale on and good branded pads can be bought for half price or even more.

I bought some branded (Though not Mercedes) front pads earlier this year, once fitted I noticed a knocking on the front end - not considering the pads to be an issue I dropped it in to the dealers as it was under warranty and they explained I must fit Mercedes pads - Sceptical, I did this anyway and away went the knocking despite them seemingly looking identical. The fella at Mercedes said the pads would be safe and fully functional, just irritating to listen to more than anything.

Would anyone know if this would be the case with the rears? Wouldn't want to go through the effort of buying and fitting something none OEM if they're only going to need replacing immediately.

Thanks!

Mercedes pads are made by Pagid, part of the "Friction Products Group"

I use them on the front with no problems at all. I have Brembo pads on the rear again with no problems

This opens the whole debate on mb pads and aftermarket. We have loads of cars in with non genuine pads, some knock because they are undersized, some squeal, some just don’t have the bite and some are ok. I find it funny that some claim that these are the same as mb when we only find these problems in some aftermarket pads. your choice but is it worth the risk and hassle of changing them again.

Wow. Well thanks for the responses. I've never been tied in to only buying dealer perishable parts before but then again this is the first Mercedes I've owned. I've picked up a set of rear Brembo pads for £34, at that price I think it's worth the gamble, if when they go in they don't seem right I can always sell them on - keep a look out ;)

Again appreciate the replies!

You'll be fine with those ... theres a divide on here with most posts . Some say oem some say otherwise. In the end you have to just decide what you want... then theres those that will argue the toss over the sex of an apple fly grub..

I'm with mb parts on this, did you check the price of original, I don’t think there’s much difference in what you just paid (approx £10) and given your front pads knock because they are aftermarket, it might not be worth the risk. :)

Hi bud
I had the same issue on my last e350 coupe. The pads you buy from dealer has a sticky back and this stops the pad from rattling. I had thought about a couple of dots of silicon in appropriate places but decided to buy dealer pads. Job done no rattling.
just fitted new brembo pads and eicher discs from euro car parts today on my e220 coupe so far no issues. But if they rattle I’ll know what to do.
