2016 Smart Car. How do you set the gearbox from E to S?

How do you set the gearbox from E to S? I have found the button you press which changes it, but next time you start the car it is back in E. Is there a way to permanently set it to S?

I suspect that John's Smart is the 453 ie a later shape than mine. Mine doesn't have the options of E / S

Yes a 2016 453. you get a better ride in S and it does not keep the engine in top gear longer when it is going up hills etc.

Pretty sure you can't. I have the same thing with our 2011 R Class. Always starts in E even if S was previously selected.

My auto Vauxhalls were the same. You could set the gearbox to S/sport but it always defaulted to off the next time you turned the ignition off. EmilysMum's Citroen C3 is the same.
