My wife's 2016 Smart car just failed it's MoT on Lambda emissions (Limits 0.97-103. Actual 1.10)They said it was probably caused by a hole in exhaust, but they could not see one. I have not checked it my self yet, but I thought that I would check with the forum first. Any ideas or is the hole correct?

Well you need check tbf.
Always best to go for an MOT with a good warm engine.

A few years ago I bought a smoke machine so I will run that up the exhaust and see if that shows the hole.

I put the smoke machine pipe up the exhaust and after about 20 seconds smoke was coming out from under the heat shield, so yes a hole in the exhaust box. I have not taken off the heat shield to see the extent of the hole yet, but I will be getting a new exhaust tomorrow.

Such a problem getting a non Mercedes Exhaust box. Non of the local motor factors sold them except SGF who when it arrived they decided to increase the price. In the end got one from Ebay £118. Slightly different, but still a quality part and fitted perfectly.

I needed an exhaust for my 451 turbo Smart. Best part of £500 from MB  so for a laugh asked at Kwikfit also asked at GSF. Unbeknown to me, KF asked at GSF for a price. KF phoned me the next day with 2 prices .... £140ish & £800something. The £800+ exhaust was for AN Other model that included a CAT
I went to GSF who told me they'd ordered an exhaust, but it was the wrong one ..... I could see it from my side of the counter & asked to see it properly. It's the wrong one he said! I said put it on the counter for me to see & I'll decide ... which he eventually & reluctantly did! I suggested it WAS the correct part .... he reluctantly said I could have it but .... they wouldn't take it back if I altered it to fit!
It fitted perfectly! ..... that was after the back of the car was removed & the crash bar from behind it. Not easy to do in a single garage when you can't get down the side of the car properly!

I did mine on the drive. Now passed it's MoT. The most difficult part was getting the clamp back on.
