I have just been to look at a smart car to buy. This is the first that I have looked at. With the engine cover lifted you can hear a ticking from the engine. I did not rev the engine, which I see now was an oversight, so I do not know if it would increase with engine speed. I just wondered if this is a normal sound form this engine.

I have now looked three yest diesel which was pretty quiet. And 2 petrol, which were quite rattly almost vw like. Looking a few more next week. 2010/13 seems to be Yr I am aiming for. Its just a runabout replacement for our 2003 w168. If it fails mot next week. I think one of jacking points is somewhat rotten and I no longer have my workshop, shame, been no bother otherwise.. wud be sad to see it go. Runs well. And done belts pulleys brakes springs and all b pipes.
But when mummy abandoned France she left rear seats there so it's a 2 seat /van now.
The new stuff is without question built to an inferior std
Not touched any wheel speed sensors on it and egf is a simple devise, no DPF.
How things, have NOT improved.

Well I have bought a 2016 Petrol, to replace the wife's SLk, as she can not get in and out easily at her age, 63 and it is a lovely car. The twinamic gearbox is so smooth and just like a normal automatic.
