2017 glc rear diff fluid change

Hi / is the rear diff fluid change straight forward remove bottom bung ( is it Allen key ) then refill up to level of top bung. Also anyone know right fluid and how much needed for 2017 glc 250 amg , only 40000 mls but would like to change it if straightforward as just got gearbox done.

You remove the top bung first. Then the drain. Let it drain for a good while . You want as much of the new oil in as possible,not a mix of old n new.

I bought this for my 2017 e350.

You can shorten the time to make it drain by taking it for a run and warming it up for a bit first.

and definitely take the top bung out first.

Seems alot tbh. It's usually just shy of 1 litre. Some upto 1.2 litres.

Mine is supposed to take 1.1L.
I have some old oil left, Can I get away with 1l of new good stuff as above and top up with a little old oil? Bearing in mind 1l will probably fill it.

If it's the same brand and type yes. You can mix any really , it's just more beneficial to use as much new oil as you can.

Seems that be ok I know of some where the bottom bung was rung and would not come out but top fill bung came out and they sucked oil out as much as possible and topped up with new it’s better than not changed at all . But as said earlier by o p take top bung out first as if it won’t come you have no way of refilling.
