Hi guys,

I have a 2018 C220d AMG line that's suddenly developed an issue with the boot. It won't open with the key fob, nor the button on the drivers door.

Annoyingly, there is no key slot or handle on this model, and the manual confirms that there is no other way to manually open it.

Has anyone had this issue before? I wondered whether it could be a blown fuse but from what I've seen/read, the fuse, in a moment of genius from MB... is in THE BOOT!

TIA!

I believe you may need to visit the dealership to have the electric boot operation re-set on STAR, the Mercedes diagnostic system.

Before you do that, can you try this fix?
Fast forward to 1min 25secs.

Edit.
This may be a better fix for your 205.

Thanks for your reply.

I watched both vids... definitely no valet switch, nor is there anywhere inside or out to manually open the boot in this model. An absolutely ridiculous design fault if you ask me, and seems that MB have traded practicality for aesthetics!

Anyway, I managed to access the levers to fold down the rear seats (which is also almost impossible unless you are stretch armstrong) and pulled back the lining to reveal a number of wiring looms. Lo and behold, 2 broken wires. I repaired these wires (not knowing what they were) and hey presto! Boot fixed. They look like stress breakages from repeatedly opening/closing the boot... same thing happened when my rear light cluster failed.

Hope this helps anyone having the same issue!

Cheers

^ Glad you fixed the issue. Always satisfying when you can do it yourself.

As above ,wires often break in the hinge. Best to chop them all and replace that section or you will keep going back for other breaks until they are all done.

Yes this is definitely something I'll get round to at some point. In the meantime, I've removed a couple of the tightly pulled cable ties and clips and replaced them with slightly looser ones, so hopefully this allows the wires to move a bit more freely each time the boot is opened.

Thanks again for the help
