which are the best tyres for low road noise?
Which wheels do you have? the 17"'s as standard on the SE or some huge 20" cotton reels with elastic bands on?
I had Dunlops on 17"'s on my E220d, great tyres, comfortable, quiet and great on fuel
19 inch Michelin Primacy Run Flats
That's your problem right there, huge alloys with minimal sidewall that's reinforced so passes on noise and any road imperfections (larger than a grain of rice...) directly to you. You can get non-runflat versions for your 19"'s which will improve the ride and noise. Just stay away from concrete motorways.
I have the 20" wheels and honestly they aint too bad but according to build spec they are foam filled? to reduce road noise
Get the run flats off and some Uniroyal RS3s or Vredesteins or GY AS3 and it will transform
Are they a staggered set up or same size all round?
This is the quietest tyre and good ratings if the same size but you will have to put a can of goop in as they are not run flats
As per John above, the Goodyear Asymmetric Tyres are good. I have 4 all round and the difference between the old Continental run flats I had on previously was very noticeable noise wise, they are much quieter.
