2018 S213 E Class Mercedes 220D displaying "reduce engine oil level". Warning light only pops up when the water temperature gauge reaches 90c. and stays on until I switch the engine off. Once the car cools down, light stays off until it reaches the 90c and it's back on again.

Replaced oil, new oil filter and new oil sensor fitted about a week ago has not helped.
Oil level showing ok.
Any suggestions please?
Thank you.

Smart + others :)
How much oil did you put in the engine and did remove the oil filter when draining as this holds oil too.

Oil expands with heat and, in your case, is exceeding the allowed level when hot. Remove some oil.

I am also having this issue with my c220d. Bought it Saturday. After about 30 mins of driving I get the ‘reduce oil’ message. It’s due to go back into Mercedes next week but I didn’t wanna wait that long. So I went to my local garage and had them drain about 1 litre of oil from the car. Upon getting home it said oil level ok. But was still sitting at the maximum line. Then I went for another drive (about 25 mins) and the reduce oil light came on again. How much did they put in the ****** car when they serviced it?!!!! Is it safe to drive until it goes back in? I would assume it’s better than it was, considering there’s been oil removed. I’ve attached a picture. And the level when hot is still sitting at exactly the same as it was before they drained out the litre of oil. I am a bit confused if I’m honest because logically, it doesn’t make sense.

Are you sure its not fuel contaminated? DPF Regen stuck on, will cause fuel going to sump...

These are a sod for reporting overfilling when hot. They have no dipstick, which doesn’t help. Most say 6 litres from empty, and you need to suck out what sits in the filter housing too. I generally put 5.5 back in, which shows halfway between low and high on the dashboard. You don’t get the overfull warning then

We do the same, but a lot of customers come back saying the oil level display isnt full, and ask us to top back up again.

Then reassure them that midway between maximum and minimum is the ideal spot. They’ll moan more about warnings that shout “overfull”
And round the merry go round we go

(We love our customers and this is all tongue in cheek)

is there not a proper dipstick that you can check the oil level on?
No dip stick. It’s all on the screen. Car went back to Mercedes today. And they forgot to look at the oil issue. So it’s still there :(

MB dealers are a total joke. Nothing to what they were 20 years ago.

I don’t think the newer cars are as good either. I had a 2014/2015 model and it was better quality than my new car.
