Anyone ever remapped this engine? Any recommendations on the gains of a tuning box or ECU remap,
The car is quite heavy so need a bit more torque

It’s easier to sell it and buy one with a more powerful engine.
For that sort of money you might as well go for a 250d, if you remap the 220d it will roughly be the same as a 250d.
But the 250D has the hardware to support the power and torque.

I wouldn’t compare an E220d with the E250cdi as the OM654 in the E220d is pretty much the same power as the OM651 in a E250cdi already - 194 bhp against 201 bhp. It’s also - lot lighter and a lot more fuel efficient.

The OM654 is also used in the E300d with 241 bhp so the likes of GAD or MSL should easily be able to get to that.

I had the OM654 and found it an amazing engine and gearbox combination. Never going to be a sports car - AMG make those engines but for fuel efficiency and effortless cruising I don’t think it can be beaten.

I have the W213 E63s and was considering remap too but my thinking is that when a car is in warranty, don’t void it.

Remapping on my car where components are built to be driven hard is bad enough and eventually WILL lead to failure of something. I wouldn’t bother on a 2L as would be very harmful to car being already fragile.

I had a 2018 c250d coupe previous, and I do miss the extra torque from the 2.2 engine. Although it has similar power.
Will give MSL a shout, anyone tried any tuning boxes?

Have you noticed the improved fuel economy though?

Yes roughly 5mpg better urban and rural.
I get around 50-55mpg rural drive compared to 45-50 in my previous car

No 250d available in this application , for the 1950cc 220d it is two output versions both with almost the same hardware and both should map to around 220+bhp and 480Nm .

The 194 does go higher with the torque though 500+Nm.

Tuning boxes are for the bin .

What would happen to a 2002 VAG 1.9 PD TDI with 160k and it gained 50 bhp ?

Ill stick to my original point is it worth remapping a car that is that new and under warranty?

Just buy the faster version.

Another politician , but fair enough you are right as warranty voided and a service containing a software update will wipe the map.

A mate with a MY19 63S had Acid map it for £800 , I told him a service with ECU software update will wipe it , he didn't seem too bothered , more money than..

Plus he doesn't go over 60 , lol .

A politician? Not quite but it’s hilarious banter I suppose.

Some people just don’t care. It does make you think however... if you go for the Brabus map which is immensely over priced, does that do any damage to car. MB still keep warranty on car since brabus is approved

They do keep the warranty but it is no longer unlimited miles with the Brabus chip

Going up 30bhp and 50-100nm, would that really damage a car as such. They have a lot of potential,
The same engine is available in Europe as e300d with 260bhp. Just shows what is achievable

But then are Brabus tuning boxes just as suspect as the top sellers , Race Chip , TDI Tuning and DTUK , because there are torque and smoke limiters within the ecu software that a tuning box can't circumvent .

Some are even just one connection fuel pressure sensor foolers , all will or try to over pressurise the fuel rail and injectors .

More connectons for boost sensor etc better , not necessarily .

Probably wouldn’t. But let’s face it, unless it’s built for speed; it’s not really going to shift
