Help needed guys.. the 202 1995 c200 is inching towards retirement with every new fault, or rather flying with 180k on the clock and 2.5k per month being added! Boy I need a diesel!

I'd appreciate some help to fix the latest mot failure electrical problems while the replacement fund is built up.

a. Headlight main beam will not stay on although flasher works, is this a relay or the whole multiswitch gone?
b. Nearside main beam bulb has fused to holder and of course bulb has broken, I cannot find a replacement holder on the web - is this generic to many models so I can look in scrappies. Is this an easy DIY fix?

Any recommendations on the auto box maintenance, car is changing gears reasonable well, bit sluggish in either S or W though.

cheers
Saz

Hi Saz,, the damaged bulb could have blown the stalk switch.

Have you tried to remove the dead bulb base with a pair of long nose pliers, it should come out

There are fuses for the headlamps

Hi,
Your gearbox, get the fluid and filter changed, but make sure you use the correct replacement fluid. I was amazed at the difference it made to mine after i had it done.
Your multi-function switch does it move forward into the high beam position, and stay there?
