Absolute weapon in today, Mercedes A45s AMG in for a stage 1 tune.

Being a 2021 model, because of anti-tuning software updates, we wernt sure if we could tune the Bosch MG1 ECU.
But we managed

Also Mercedes are now all running the CPC units ( an overriding ECU) which has hidden torque limiters, on this occasion the CPC was agressivly limiting torque and power at 5,000rpm (see dyno plots)
Thus I think robbed of around 30/40bhp, but still overall very very impressive. Once the CPC's have been cracked, we will have this customer back to unlock the cars full potential!

449 > 484bhp

First of all well done.
I can't help wondering about the type of person who buys a car like this and thinks its just not powerful enough.

Once you get used to the power, a bit more is always welcome Ron.

I like it when the C63's get K&N claim a 20 bhp increase and claim they feel it out on the road .
Lol. You wouldn't feel an extra 20bhp.

I understand and have personally experienced this with cars, and also when I bought a new ZX-7R in 1996.
There surely must be a limit to what one can get used to and still desire more actually usable performance on the road.
The most powerful car I have owned was 320PS on a 2017 Civic, which wasn't even close to the performance of my current car with only 306PS.
By all accounts an A45 S with 421PS is a rocketship in standard form.
Of course torque has a major effect on what a car feels like to drive. :geek:

We had a client with a 991.2 GT3 911 and with BMC drop in filters we saw 3bhp but 25nm mid range!!! That you would feel!

With W204 C63 on one example we saw 8bhp and 12nm which I personally would say you would not notice! Maybe a tad throttle response??? But not anything tangible on the road no.

Many thanks

Americans are a special bunch lol

Had a few arguments in the past with some Americans regarding dyno readings....

American Dyno said a vehicle was 580bhp when manufacturers claim 503bhp and our dyno it made 503bhp, so my argument was which dyno would you trust??? The Dyno which has read the vehicle at manufacturers stated claims or the Dyno which has read 77bhp over??? They said the USA dyno because they landed on the moon first!! I kid you NOT!!!

After trying to explain from not only a business perspective that having a C63s make 580bhp and the E63s make 604bhp that they would not have them so close together as a model choice but also that to make 580bhp it has to be running more boost, more fuel, more ignition and thus means higher emissions which they also wouldn't do for tax reasons and yet still was like arguing with a wall.

Many thanks

Most of the time any restriction is the pipework but this is usually accompanied buy the 'upselling' of a fantasy performance air filter that sucks more dirt than a Dutch hooker .

One of the best American 'fabrications' I've seen is this graph .

after a while some people just get used to the power, then they have an itch to scratch, plus being able to utilise and maximise the performance is always desirable.

I personally have Jeremy Clarkson approach to things... always need more POWER
