My 1980 207D will not start. I have changed the heater plugs and it made no difference then I removed one of the diesel pipes to an injector and turned the engine over to check if fuel was getting through. There was a feeble delivery. I then removed the fuel pump (Bosch pump)I turned the spline on the end of the pump and the fuel came out at a much better rate.
Turning the spline seems free and when the cam is turned apears to be positive, no evident slackness.
Can any one suggest what I should do next. Does it need calibrating at a pump specialst for example.
The engine has done 300,000km and has always been reliable.
