hi to all, new on the site, ill get straight down to it,i have a sprinter 208cdi 2.1 2000 model,in the past few days ive replaced the glow plugs and filters, now i had to leave the vehicle for a few days before i could do the initial start up after servicing and obviously the fuel filter was empty, ive turned it over and over and it dosnt seem to start and im assuming its not bleeding through,so without the aid of easystart i sprayed a bit of brake cleaner in the air intake,it turned over a couple of times then vapor locked, then came up with error start on the dash and now wont do anything,im thinking after reading the book its no longer recognising the chip in the key,has anyone had this problem before if so is it easy to bypass immobiliser, or am i doomed to ring an expensive main dealer, hope to haear from someone soon and my appreciation goes out in advance, cheers jim:)

I bought mine when it had the start error message. It turned out to be one of the many fuses that were blown. Check them all including the ones under the drivers seat.

Ignition off, this works sometimes on the car DAS keys, but may not on yours, when you turn the key, does nothing light up on the dash

hi malcom, when i turn the key i get all ignition lights, i can hear what im assuming is the glow plug relay, when i turn the key to the start position the dash displays error start and will not engage the starter, ive taken a wire straight to the starter and the engine will turn over with the ignition on, it still dosnt start but im assuming thats because ive still havnt had chance to bleed the fuel filter through because of this problem, ive put the key in the ignition and 90 mins will be up at 12.45,once again id like to say thanks for replying to my questions its much appreciated, i dont know enough about the immobiliser on this vehicle as in which systems its cuts out, but im assuming it will be immobilising the fuel system as well as the starter

I was told that if the start error message is displayed the vehicle is immobilised - so it won't start irrespective of how much it turns over.
