208D Sprinter - Starting problem

Hi.

I'm new to the forum so apologies if this should be in a different section. I have a 2000 Sprinter 208D and recently it has become a very difficult vehicle to start in the morning. When the ignition key is turned on, the yellow heating coil warning lamp does not light up (it did before) so I thought it was an electrical problem. I changed the control relay that mounts under the battery pan and it hasn't made a difference as it's still hard to start and the dash light doesn't come on.

I know the symptoms described are a bit vague, but can anyone offer any suggestions as to what might be wrong?

dead glow plugs?

for reference - whats the engine number? (should be on your logbook as somthing like OM612.xxxxxx) - its going to be the same engine as a C220 D or whatever...
