Hi everyone,

I have finally got my 2001 320 cdi running right and now want to attack the creaks and groans coming from the suspension. I've changed the front track rod ends, engine mounts and the o/s ball joint but still hear a springy pingy noise when turning a slow tight left hander. I have a very slight bit of play in the n/s balljoint which I will change as only 30 notes. Could the noise be from the anti roll bar bushes?

On a different note the car does not handle that well in the wet. Could be a tyre issue as rears are some cheap Chinese brand. I have noticed a light powder coat of oil around shocks and one is definately stronger than the other. Has anyone replaced these sphere type shocks? Cheers, Simon.

if in doubt just replace the anti roll bar bushes and drop links as they are cheap and easy to do. they are an old faithful on the 210.

check out all the springs for broken bottom coil

try swapping "spheres" from one side to other if still uneven perfomance

rear hub has a kind of wobbly bush at the lower most arm these wear and creak ...pierce the boot and inject spray grease to test

Replaced bottom ball joint today and creak has gone;). Changed n/s anti roll bar bush but someone has rounded off the torq bolt on o/s:confused:. How do I get this off? No room to get a pair of grips onto it......

bang it flat on the head with hammer to shock it and loosen it in the threads.

use chisel or centre punch in anti clockwise direction to create a purchase point on or near the circumference try to loosen with chisel or punch.

once you get some movement drench with wd40 or brake cleaner type solvent to soften the huge amount of thread lock that the factory will have used.

then continue with punch and mole grips
