210 for ml

yes, dont!! keep the 210, far better car, sorry but work with these things 5 days a week and would have a 210 over a 163 anyday!!!!

I was looking for a 163 last year and did read lots and lots, it seems the pre facelifted cars were not that good build quality wise.

Saying that I held out and bought a facelifted inspiration model (ML350) lovely car. I've had it a year and all its needed is fuel

My farther inlaw while we were away bought a ML270cdi (2000 X reg) and I was a bit woried for him hearing the problems. His is on 85K miles also against mine bought on 33K.

He has now had his nearly a year, and hasn't needed anything. Problem he has with is is that the SRS airbag light and SBC?? brake lights seem to come on one day and go out the next? Doen't seem to cause any issues though?

So there you go, were both happy with them. They make GREAT tow cars also.

Just make sure you check it out fully, I looked at one for my farther inlaw with the full sunroof, I loved this but apparently can leak and squeak....

Whats your budget if you don't mind me asking and how many miles do you do a year?


Colechelle, I respect you work on them and tell it how is is, but my dad has a E320Cdi from new (2003) and a merc SL500 and both require their fair share of work, recalls etc so I don't think all ML's are bad


I like mine thanks, looked at the Lexus, X5, and Tourage? before choosing it.

SBC is only fitted to 211 and 230 models, and yes i will put my hands up, every thing on here i post is only my views and only my advise! your right there is some good one out there but a 163 to a 210, 210 wins everytime!

I had a 02 ML270 CDI for 18 months, my partners car. If you like rattles you will love the ML. It worked ok nothing went wrong apart from the BAS light coming on every now and again, But the rear of the car had so many rattles that it drove me crazy. I also have a w210 300TD it has outlived the ML by 3years now and I still enjoy it.


My advice stay with the 210 they are far better than the ML in every way.

I hate rattle and Mine doen't squeak?

Like any cars there are good and bad ones.

Its not perfect, no car I have own is they all do things differently. For what you get for the money its a lot of bus.

I see it differently and wouldn't want the 210? given what I have read about that model? good job we are all different.

thanks guys for all your input , will keep my eyes and ears open for any more advice . i was thinking of spending around 8k but i must say i want trouble free motoring !!! (dont we all )or as hassel free as i can get there is nothing wrong with my 210 love it but fancy a change ? thanks kev

If you can old out and save some more pennies the facelifted ones should be around that now?

I would recomend one of them to be fair.
