I have a E220 2007 model, with approx 9k miles. Even since I bought the car a couple of months ago, I've felt the brakes are a bit spongy - certainly the biting point is an inch or so below what I experienced in my previous 2005 E220. One disconcerting thing I have notied is that if you hold the pedal formly down when stopped , it does start to slowly sink and actually goes to the floor after about 15 -20 seconds. I'll get it booked in within the next week, but anyone come across this before? I think its more than just air in the system , more like a faulty mater cylinder?

I would imagine thats possibly due to the difference between the SBC system you had on your 2005 to the conventional system on your new one giving a different feel and biting point.

I dont recall any motor I have owned other than old ones with leaky master cylinders having a brake pedal that goes to the floor, and the car is so new and under warranty, so I'd personally just take it in and let a dealer sort it out as you are going to do.

It could well be due to the difference, apart from the sinking feeling.
I had't realised that the new one didnlt have SBC, shows you how used I got to the noise of the SBC pump booting in every now and then. I'll get it into the dealers PDQ

Yes SBC dropped, my brakes are very very good so as per above a trip to the dealers is in order. Pls post back with what they diagnose.

Guvce them their due, the dealer was concerned when i phoned them I took it in and their techinian had a good go and reckoned they were fine - I must admit they're only spongy when at rest, and he reckoned they're all like that .
