220ce Exhausted Looking

I believe the 220CE was only manufactured for one year as the interim model between the 230CE and E220 Coupe so is quite rare. It's certainly rare when it comes to parts catalogues! I've been looking for an exhaust and was wondering if the same system is fitted to the E220.

I have searched the forum but, understandably, there is not that much reference to the 220CE. I was wondering if the mechanicals, exhaust etc are the same as the E220? Are the differences cosmetic?

Also read quite a bit about catalytic converters - not required on 92 models. The car was first registered in 93 but is it classed as a 92 model and (performance apart) doesn't need a cat fitted?

found out mb only made about 1 to 2 thousand 220ce's world wide,, but the mechanicals of the e220 are supposed to be the same,, and body parts from 230ce's are the same,, maybe,,

Hi, did you get anywhere with sourcing an exhaust for a 220ce? i'm looking for a back box but GSF seem to think they don't have one. Any ideas as to where i can buy one?

Hi Tom,

The mechanic said the car would get through the MOT without having to replace any exhaust parts!! And it did. However the best prices he sourced were more than the local MB dealer. Still expensive. MOT due again in August so I'll start the search again. I will probably need a centre box at some stage and the heat shields. If I come up with anything worth knowing about I'll post it. Thanks also to COUPE FREAK and C220GJS for the info.

....And now August is here..... Any joy on the 220CE 'zorst front ? As the only source I have found is from Merc and with an application for second mortgage attached.
Are the exhaust bits unique to this model, or does some other model more volume produced = lower priced provide an alternative ?
Or go the Powerplus bespoke route perhaps.... ?

Sorry for the delay John, Only just spotted the post.

A small ammount of liqiud steel was enough to seal a small seam in the centre box and replaced rear silencer from MB. As good a price as most and the build quality/weight is great.
