how long was it since it was last driven ? the fact that the lights light up means there is some power in the battery, but maybe not enough,

easiest way to find out is to jump start the car or get a new battery

cheers

If the starter is not turning, then the alarm or anti theft is still engaged, that's a very good reason.

Its a long story, but car garaged in November 05. I've since had a new battery and new key fob battery. Its taken weeks to figure gear shift (its an auto) couldn't get it out of park to push it out of the garage. If it is an immobiliser thats stopping it from starting, and everything thing else seems t be okay - where on own earth would it be? Theres nothing on the dashboard that I can see to show where it would be. Does that indicate that its not a factory fitted one so harder to find?

I am not familiar with the 220E but it may need to be in "Park" to start it. You mentioned taking it out of park to move it.
