Hi All,

Found the bargain of the century!!!
A 1983 230CE Pillarless Coupe, 118k miles, Auto, Gold Metallic.
She runs like a dream but, alas, she is a bit rough round the edges.

********** £250 ************

(Read & Weep boys!)

My problem is that although i can readily source wings and valences which i do not really need but will keep for storage, I am desperate to source Window Glass Seals.

I used to own a 20 yr old VW Golf and VW informed me that they gave a "special discount" for cars over a certain age..... Do MB Stealers do this????

Any help greatly appreciated

Craig..

Hope she's not too rusty underneath!!!!!!

In terms of window seals you can get new ones for your CE from Forest Fine Automotive on 01273-325956 or www.forestfine.com/mercedes-benz

As an example, Coupe door seal £38.95, Coupe front screen seal £44.00, etc.

hi there

the stealership will give discounts at 15 years old. you get 40% off the labour and 10% off the parts.

i still think that you could be surprised by some of the bills ?!?!?!?!?!?!?

cheers

sebastian.

Thanks Much mjtray & Sebastian.

Unfortunately i do not see side window seals on forest fine, i see front/rear windscreens & door seals though.

Very little rust anywhere (both bodywork & underneath), major panels are crisp, dry and only minor bubbling of the paint.

the reason i need the window seals is the original ones have become brittle over the years and are flaking away.

The rear seat is a little mouldy and smells, so i want to replace the seals and get the interior re-upholstered & carpeted.

The history of the car is spot-on, i have 13 MOT certificates, Every service receipt and receipts of any and all work carried out over the years.

I suppose when i strip the paint off i might find a few problems but until then i will be driving this baby with the hugest smile on my face.

Greatest respect to both of you for your help.

Craig

"The rear seat is a little mouldy and smells.."

There could be several other reasons apart from the seals that could cause this.....:)

I agree talbir, but the tell-tale mildew running downwards from the inside of the rear right window and the water stain on the seat below it tend to sway my decision.

Was this the same car spotted at the Stirling Tescos on pump 1 a couple of weeks ago?

Somebody else rolled up in some other fancy MB and must have felt about two feet tall when he spotted that car.

I was in my mums Audi A2, so I can't really say much apart from the other guy parked across the door so we all had to climb over his car to get our Tesco points!

Interesting, Merc vs Merc in a posing contest. Okay, what's the coolest, bestest Merc of all time?

When I was a kid and didn't know what a car was, I got draged around the museum at Stutgart. Luckily I had a camera, now I have a scanner...watch this space.

It must have been the late 70's when I was there. I also took in the GP at hockenhiem that year and watched Mario Andretti drive away from everyone. I seem to remember a few cars going round the track, a gullwing was one, a lamborjenny countarse was another...I may have some pictures of this as well.

I also went to the Shlumpf Museum just as it opened.

as i say "watch this space"

Talbir,

Noticed the Porsche you had in your signature.

Have a friend who has a "holy grail" type 911 for sale if you are genuinely interested.

There would be some pictures here by now, but I can't work out how to get images into the replies.

If anybody knows where MBStut.jpg is, can they put it up here?
