I thought that I would slip in my new telephone module this afternoon, and removed the center cover only to find that the whole car has been built around it. the dismantling is unbelievable and I think that its easier to forget the phone.

Telephone module now in sight,, it would have been easier with the passenger seat out.

I do not know why I am doing this as I never use the phone anyway,, there was only 37 missed calls on it this morning:confused:

Just removed the telematics module that sits above it, and you guessed it the fixing screws are on the under side so it means the whole rear end to be taken out, kick plates and all.

It can wait for a warm summer day, and that will mean that I will have to leave it for ever. I have plugged the new one in , but both the new and the old module is now saying " no phone plugged in"

I will try again later as I have that odd meesage once or twice

I thought Ok I can try the new module, before I take out the rear just in case, but all I have now is "phone not plugged in" and it does not switch on, there is one lose socket from the phone holder to the plug on the rear of the console, has a wire come off there ? its hard to say as you can see nothing.

The phone is charging, to take the console right out means breaking all of the vacuum lines, so I can carry on in the morning.

The Comand self check is fine

The phone module sits under the rear storage section behind the mechanism for the armrest. whenever we retrofit phone to an SL it usually means the armrest mechanism all coming out! You should be able to get to the module by just removing the interior behind the seats.

However, changing just the phone module will probably require coding. I know on some we do that the cars VIN has to be coded into the controller!

Thanks Alfie,,right now it is showing phone not plugged in, and that is with the old module, though it is charging, I had not had that message before

Richard did say to me once that the lead breaks going to the phone, and I am now wondering if that is the fault.

I will have to cut the vacuum line and take it all out of the car and check the cables in the workshop.

That phone module is screwed in from the bottom and the CD changer and all has to come out as its all bolted to the same frame

I do not believe it

I just thought I wonder if it is the phone gone wrong, so I plugged in my old 6150 and it works, apart from the original fault that I started out with,, so wait till the better weather to strip out all of the rear, CD changer tuners and all, to change the Nokia module.

They cost £285, as I have made 3 calls in 2½ years that works out expensive, and the next call at this rate should bring the cost down to under £100 per call:shock:

Malcolm,

You have the patience of a saint.

I am getting some strong deja vu here and the recollection of a signature which used to say "keep on fixing it until it breaks"!

I have a 6310 which works in the S and the SL. For the few occasions on which I make long journeys by car, I transfer my SIM card from Blackberry to Nokia and it works fine.

Is there something I have missed?;)

For years I could not figure why my phone at home would not dial out.

Then I realised that the 9 which I was dialling first was not required ..............

When that happened to me I knew it was time to give up work.
