Would Like To Know More About My 230c C0upe 1979.
It Has Been Running Extremely Well For The 15 Years That I Have Owned It. Its Colour Is 618 Mimoseb!, Its Automatic And Does Not Have Fuel Injectors.
Does Anybody Know How Many Of These Were Made And How Many Are Left Running. Is There Somewhere That Spares Can Be Obtained?
Has Anybody In The Club Got One?
Thanks

I have a wonderful book about the W123. It is by HEEL publishers and i got it from the Mercedes-Benz Heritage Center in Stuttgart.

The book is in german and is an 'approved' DaimlerChrysler product and cost me a small fortune. Has juicy photos of development W123 bodyshells being built as far back as 1976: real W123 porn stuff!! Anyhow, I do not have it in front of me (am at work) but from memory the book states that around 17,000 230C built worldwide.

I will get the exact number for you tomorrow. Also, book tells you in which production year each vehicle colour was applied: some colours are very rare ('Inkarot' - 'Inca Red' = sort of dark burnt metallic orange (!) is one of the rarest). But I will also check your paint code and get back to you.

Cheers.

OK, so here is the info:

Number of units built worldwide for W123 230C, C123 V23, build type 18.675, M115 V23 engine:

1976 - 1 (prototype/show car)
1977 - 3484
1978 - 7049
1979 - 6538
1980 - 1603

Total: 18675 units (note that they built 29,858 230CEs in comparison)

Number of same now in existence, by year, according to DB archives:

1999 - 4280
2000 - 2406
2001 - 1106
2002 - 896
2003 - no records available

For colour 618 'mimosengelb' aka mimosa yellow, this was used for two years production upto 1979, and was a rare special order colour (= at extra cost).

In my view the 230C you have is getting to be quite rare. They have low value now as most people prefer to 230CE. But wait a few years and it will be a very unique car.
