230SL - issues

Hi all

Can I have Power steering installed into an 1964 230SL? and if YES - where do I send it to have it done?

Also.... need some new Rubbers troughout the whole car - the Hard top, the window, door - in fact - ALL the rubbers needs replacement - any ideas/ numbers where I could get this?

Can't help with power steering, but you could try Forest Fine in Brighton for the rubber seals (http://www.forestfine.com)

Definately stick to MB seals. They are not as expensive as youd expect, much better than anything else out there.

For info, Forest Fine supply MB seals, so it's a question of whether they are cheaper than your local stealer.

A ha! -thanks you guys... any news on the power steering?

could I fit the rubbers myself - or is it a VERY technical job that would involve taking the entire car appart?!

I am handy - but wouldn't want to create a car -unknown to man

I've replaced most of the seals on my 107 with no problems. I've not done the boot seal, which I think would be the only tricky one. The main tricks are:
- get all of the protective wax (if any) off the seal before fitting.
- if it fits in a channel and doesn't need adhesive, use a silicone lubricant (or spit or washing-up liquid) to help squeeze it in.
- a piece of hard plastic strip is useful to push the lip into the channel.

Thanks for that - you give me hope! I am going to try and do it myself - if I get it wrong -

I am also looking for two Visors - any ideas... my car doesn't have any, nor the steel hinges, brackets, etc....

It's a red interior, but I would take any colour!

keep up the good work on all your car-lovers.... it's great to hear that in this busy, lives we life - people still take pleasure in the smaller things in life!
