I've got 1990 230te with what looks like the original Becker radio, the manual says it's a Grand Prix 1300. The questions are how do I remove it? Is there a wiring connection kit I need as I have a Sony head unit coming. Also do I have to do anything special with the wiring regarding the electric aerial.

Dude

How much for the radio please.

Not a clue my friend, once I work out how to remove it I'll have a look round see how much they are worth. It's a shame to spoil the original look but I'm looking for Ipod connectivity and find a cassette adapter is a bit oldie worldy!

take out the ash tray, and you will see two pins at the bottom of the radio, push them down

Let me know I want an original radio for my 87 TE, I like things to be original.

I don't know if this is any help but if you can use a volt meter it will make things easier to test which wires are for D.C supply or speakers

1) There will be one wire with a constant 12V for the memory
2) There will be one wire with a switchable 12V via ignition switch for the input to the radio
3)If you have an electric aerial, this wil be a 12V output when you switch the radio on & then will probably go via relay control to aerial motor
4)You will have one negative earth
5)Then you have speaker wires. Two wires to each speaker
One marked + & one marked -

To test which way round on the wires to the speaker, disconnect speaker wires and put a 1.5Volt battery across each speaker.
If you connect it the right way, the speaker cone will move forwards,at this point mark the cable + & -
if it is the wrong way, the cone will move backwards.
All this does is to make sure you get all speakers in phase
