My 230 TE 124 has got a little lumpy in the gear box. If I idle in gear with the brake on, the engine runs unevenly, but in neutral it's fine. It is also a little un-smooth on the road, almost as though it can't quite decide which gear to be in..... Any ideas anyone

Thanks

PS Many thanks to all those who helped me with the bouncy problem, I fitted new spheres and the difference is amazing.

Lumpy gearbox

First thing to do is to check the auto box fluid. If it's low, top it up. If it smells burnt the box is worn. If it's low, smells burnt and hasn't been checked for years then you may well be in need of a replacement box. If the box is worn, and you top it up, it will likely work for a while before failing. Checking the service records, when was the fluid & filter last changed?

It's not timing out on my 'state of the art' half ISDN connection I'm blessed with.
