i've been at this one for some time now
here is the problem:

i can get the car higher and lower
by setting ride height
but
it is always down on drivers side
and clearly less damping
(riding on springs)
can i assume it is the sphere???

Hi Dave

It's not the sphere. The spheres don't affect the ride height, only the damping. Carefully check the FRONT road spring on the low side. They are prone for the bottom-most coil the break. What happens is that water collects on the inside of the bottom coil which begins to rust and pit. This causes stress raisers and as the spring flexes the bottom coil snaps and the car rides slightly low on that side. Very slight possibility its the ram on that side (but only a very slight possibility). Check for fluid leaks and see how much fluid is being returned to the reservoir - should only be a very small amount.

Faults on self leveling suspension:

Hard ride at rear, bouncing over bumps etc - spheres

Fluid leaks at rear - hydraulic rams (look like shockers but aren't)

Incorrect ride height, not self-leveling when loaded/unloaded (symetrical)- height valve.

Hope this helps...

it's only low at the back
drivers side
new springs
no leaks
going over speed bumps
bounces much more drivers side
than nearside
front spring looks good
