Can anyone tell me why my W123 240D wont switch off...I have to stall it every time ! I looked at the stop switch on the diesel pump and it tries to close the rack but just not enough.....this is the only thing left connected to the vacume pipe as the central locking and head light raiser have been dissconected due to leaks in the system !....is it a problem with the main vac pump itself or is it the rack puller that is at fault ?....pleeeeeez help !!
merry x-mas to you all Andy

I would sugest that with the pipes that you have taken off that you seal the ends of the pipes to restore the vacuam element to the pump.

The car will switch off with the stop lever but the vacume from the pipe is almost doing it but not quite !!!!! and if (as is usual before you switch off) you have emptied the vacume by braking it has no chance of pulling the stop lever back....the stop lever is free to move by hand and not at all sticky and the rubber pipe is sealed tight at both ends ? got me knackered ?? unless it is possible for the vacume pump to be needing new seals ?
