Hello people!!
im new to here as i have just been given a 250D automatic. after driving it for a while on derv i noticed that there is a fuel leak coming from the fuel pump. there is a slight weep coming from number 1 high pressure valve on the pump but there is so much down the side of the block that i am thinking it is something else like the stop solenoid?? since running it on veg oil it has got slightly worse??
anyone had this problem or does anyone know what i can do to fix this.
i am doing a £100 banger rally for charity to croatia in it in september and would really like to get it fixed before i head off so if anyone has any info please let me know.
many thanks
Veggy:D

Clean it up, use gunk with a brush and then hose it clean, this will allow you to determine the actual source of the leak. Chalk dust or talc makes a good indicator for finding the actual point of leakage, just sprinkle it on liberaly.

For any dismantling of pump parts I would leave it alone and use a decent diesel bloke.

Your stop "soleniod" is a vacuum capsule atop the main body of the pump, it would only leak engine oil, and then only if its two securing bolts were loose.

well i cleaned the engine up with lots of break cleaner from work and fired her up. i found that it was coming from the first pressure valve on the diesel pump. after reading Parrots article on changing hie crush washers and rubber seals i am going to give it a go as it looks easy. i fiddle around with F3 cars all day and build gearboxes ect so i cant imagine it will be too challenging.
thanks for your responses above.
