i could get a new one or recondition the one i have.
I have been told i could change it to manual is this

280cew auto choke sticking

Hello thanks.The first 6 no of the vin are 123053 its a 1980 2746cc
280 cew auto coupe with a automatic choke .
the trouble is when its cold it ticks over fine
then once warmed the choke stays on and won`t knock off.
a friend told me that it wont adjust anymore and the injectors
are worn if i heard right and a recondition one would be about
£380 ?what are my options and could i switch it to manual choke ?

This is a common fault or was and it is the cold start device, it happened to me when in Sweden, it was odd that the car still ran, though mine was injection.

I can only give the links to the cold start valve.

Do bare in mind that a faulty temp sensor can cause your fault, by shorting them out would confirm if they were faulty

were they still making carbed ones in 1980? my '75 is injection in which case they dont have a choke, most likely to be the temp sensor, check it first anyway as it'll be cheapish.

oops, must learn to read all the way down, Television got in there already. :D
